I met Darcy Michael while schlepping ski vacations in a dingy call centre over a decade ago. Today, he’s kicking ass on the Canadian comedy circuit, which is why I felt obliged to dedicate an entire blog post to promoting his shit. That, and he could become kind of a big deal one day, and we all know I love celebrities…

Don’t miss the release of Darcy’s new stand up special Darcy Michael: One Skinny Bitch, which he’s releasing online at DarcyMichael.com on Thursday, May 10th at 9pm PST. Drawing on material from his life, his new special will feature some of Darcy’s favourite stories and jokes, while discussing more serious topics like his remarkable weight loss, marriage, family and sexuality.

For all you folks in the T Dot, the world premiere and official launch party will take place on Thursday, May 10th at the Tranzac Club in Toronto during the 2012 Bootleg Film Festival. The screening takes place at 9:30pm followed by 90 minutes of stand-up, sketch comedy and improv. Tickets are available at the door and are pay what you can.

Darcy is also filming a new comedy talk show The Skinny with Darcy Michael, produced by Frantic Films. Filmed in Winnipeg, Darcy’s guests include Alan Thicke, Caroline Rhea, Judy Gold, David Steinberg, Harland Williams and many more.

Watch for Darcy as he tours across Canada this year, including headlining gigs at Yuk Yuks Comedy Club in Vancouver in June and Massey Hall in Toronto on New Year’s Eve.
