Following the tragic and untimely death of Amy Winehouse, I published this post about all the greats who have fallen victim to drug abuse and passed away at the age of 27. Who knows how Kurt Cobain would have continued to shape rock music had he stuck around a while longer? If Jim Morrison’s heart hadn’t stopped in that Paris hotel suite, would The Doors have pumped out another pile of hits? Sadly we’ll never know. But this eerie age is creeping up for another well-known celeb, which makes me wonder if she’s next.
I would hardly consider Lindsay Lohan to be in the same class as the aforementioned artists, but she did show some promise of being a talented actress at the start of her career. Before Botox, lip injections and doing rails off the dashboard of her car. Celebrity columnists have cultivated an obsession with her addictions. When is the last time you came across a Lohan headline that didn’t include drugs or domestic disputes with her own parents? But maybe that’s just it. She was seemingly raised by a couple of lunatic fame mongers, so it’s no surprise things haven’t fared well for LiLo over the years.
Lindsay continues to make life difficult for TV and film producers who, for some reason, keep offering her fabulous opportunities. Her most recent project – a starring role as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick – will premiere on November 25. Will you watch? Do you think Lindsay is the next celeb to join the 27 club? Can Drew Barrymore save her?
