Last night marked the official kick off of the 2013 award season with the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Like most major red carpet events,
fashion bloggers have been at it all day posting their best dressed lists or noting who made the biggest fashion blunders. And while I usually follow suit, this year I want to highlight just two people who really rocked it last night.
Kate Hudson stole the show in an incredible Alexander McQueen gown that grazed the red carpet and emphasized all the right bits. Super edgy and sexy, baby number two did her right as she finally has the curves to fill out a dress like this. I haven’t loved a red carpet look this much in years.
Robert Downey Jr. is usually my fave for the boys, and this year was no different. He always has fun with his red carpet looks and takes a bit of a risk. This probably isn’t at all planned or contrived, in fact he mentioned that it took him 10 minutes to put himself together last night. But I loved the length and texture of his suit jacket. He always looks dapper with a bit of a rock and roll edge. He and Hudson should have walked the red carpet together!
Fey and Poehler rocked in their role as co-hosts, as if there was ever any doubt. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are recruited to host the Oscars next year after killing it at the Globes last night.

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell were also hilarious presenters, although they did carry on a little too long. It was definitely Lena Dunham’s night, despite having difficulty maneuvering in her shoes, winning Best TV Series and Best Actress – Comedy or Musical for her hilarious hit show Girls.
Jodie Foster wins the award for delivering the most touching acceptance speech for her Cecil B. DeMille award. Adele wins the award for most hilarious speech, especially when the cameras captured a crushed Taylor Swift giving her a nasty glare.
Ben Affleck was the bell of the ball, taking home the trophy for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director for his chilling film Argo. The Globes are usually a telltale sign of what’s to come at the Academy Awards, but I’d say the jury is still out on who takes home the top prize this year.
The 85th Annual Academy Awards air Sunday, February 24th on ABC.
